Calling for English Country Dances
"You provided just the right amount of easy-to-follow instruction, and then let the dancers enjoy the flow of the dance and the music from there. It was wonderful! The interesting tidbits you shared about dances as well as what dancing was like in Jane Austen's day made the dances more interesting."
- dance organizer, Dallas, June 2013
I call English country dances regularly around the country and abroad. In addition to regular dances, I've called for festivals, dance weekends, school groups, the Jane Austen Society of North America, house parties, and more. I call a mixture of modern and historic dances in a variety of formations, and I especially enjoy dances that encourage dancers to fill the musical phrase. In addition to the videos below, you can see more of my English calling on Youtube. Since 2018, I have been on the board of the Friends of English Dance (UK), for which I currently act as treasurer. |
